Breast Health Care

Generally, cancer treatment is more effective when the disease is found early. Some types of cancer can be found before they cause symptoms & screening.

1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. But with early detection the five-year survival rate is almost 100%.

Breast cancer is sometimes found after symptoms appear, but many women with breast cancer have no symptoms. This is why regular breast cancer screening is so important.

Measures for early detection of breast cancer:
  • Breast Self-Awareness: We encourage you to develop a general awareness of how your breasts look and feel, and to report any changes to your doctor. Changes could include a new lump or mass, skin dimpling, swelling, redness, or abnormal nipple discharge.
  • Clinical Breast Exams: Beginning at age 40, we recommend you to get an annual breast examination by a Gynaecologist.
  • Mammography: All women should have a mammogram at least once every two years beginning at age 40. If you're at high risk for breast cancer (if breast cancer runs in your family), you may need to start having mammograms at an earlier age or get checked more often.
What is a mammogram?

A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast that looks for changes that may be signs of breast cancer.

At VAMA we offer mammography along with breast ultrasonography in the most comfortable way by our experienced female mammography experts and assistants.
